Dr. Aunna Herbst is an author of a book titled, Functional Medicine in Primary Care, because she has a desire to help healthcare professionals incorporate personalized medicine into their practice and she hopes to empower patients to be more active in their healthcare. She has said, “I believe, root cause investigation for preventive wellness and chronic disease management is the future of medicine”. Before attending medical school Dr. Herbst had a business of lifestyle counseling that included nutrition consultation and naturopathic medicine. After residency she practiced family/functional medicine in rural America. After her residency, she spent three years expanding her knowledge as one of the founding physicians at Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine. She has two children, 29 and 26 years of age. Public speaking and teaching is a passion of hers. In her free time she enjoys yoga, reading and outdoor activities such as kayaking and hiking.
