Raised on principles of Indian culture, philosophy, and lifestyle, “Dr. DV” was immersed in fully-integrated world views early in life. After studying biology and philosophy at UC Irvine, he worked as a physical trainer specializing in weight loss and total body alignment, before completing medical school at St. George’s University School of Medicine. After medical school he completed Internal Medicine residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center, and became board certified in Internal Medicine. He founded The Columbia Center for Integrative Medicine (CCIM) in 2011, after taking over a chronic pain practice that transitioned patients off narcotics using integrative approaches. He pursued intensive training in integrative endocrinology, starting with certification in bioidentical hormone balancing with Labrix and edified with clinical practice and medical conferences. He is board certified with the American Board of Integrative Medicine and is a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. Over the past five years, Dr DV has delved deep into clinical applications of the emerging sciences of gut metabolomics and translational mucosal immunology, offering gut microbiome and endocrine diagnostic assessments and treatments for hundreds of patients on both coasts. Dr. DV performs inpatient, outpatient, and home-based consultations and specializes in the interface between the gut microbiome and the endocrine system. He serves as Department Chair of Internal Medicine and Hospital Medicine at Lompoc Valley Medical Center in Santa Barbara County, and oversees all patient care at CCIM offices in Woodland Hills, CA, Santa Barbara, CA, and Columbia, MD. Outside of clinical work, Dr. DV plays two instruments and composes original music, and has 3 beautiful children with his wife Elaina, with whom he runs CCIM.
