Spotlight: "Peptides for Health" by Mark Gordon, M.D.
Jeff Morris
“Peptides for Health” is by Mark Gordon, M.D.
Dr. Gordon has been a strong advocate of preventive medicine through the optimization of neuroactive and neurosteroids. He was instrumental in increasing the recognition of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) as a cause of hormonal deficiency in the hallmarked presentation on ESPN’s Outside the Lines (2007). His first book, “The Clinical Application of Interventional Endocrinology” (2008), is recognized by his peers as a dissertation on the standards of care and assessment for Hormone Replacement Medicine.
In 2004, Dr. Gordon recognized the association between TBI, hormonal imbalances and neurobehavioral conditions. Since then he has focused intensely on this association lecturing to both national and international organizations. In 2015, he was invited to give his TBI – A Hormone Dysfunctional Syndrome at UCLA under the late Dr. Stephen L. Coles.
With his latest book, Dr. Gordon makes the point that peptides are no longer fringe medicine.
“They are being used in neuroregeneration, metabolic repair, immune modulation, recovery, and longevity — yet most clinicians and health professionals were never taught how they work or how to apply them responsibly,” he says. “That gap is exactly why I wrote the book.”
Dr. Gordon says peptides are misunderstood because most discussions skip the science and jump straight to protocols. “Without understanding signaling pathways, receptor dynamics, immune interaction, and neuroendocrine effects, peptides become misused—or dismissed entirely,” he says. “Peptides for Health was written to solve that problem.”
“Peptides for Health,” is a comprehensive resource designed to bridge cutting-edge science with practical clinical application. Written for healthcare professionals, researchers, and informed readers, the book explores a wide range of therapeutic peptides—short chains of amino acids that regulate cellular communication, repair, and resilience across multiple biological systems. Each peptide is presented through a consistent and accessible format, beginning with an overview of its structure and function, followed by detailed explanations of mechanisms of action, clinical applications, benefits, safety considerations, dosing strategies, and monitoring recommendations.
The book emphasizes evidence-based medicine while also acknowledging emerging translational science, providing references from contemporary research to guide deeper exploration. By highlighting how peptides influence neuroendocrinology, immunology, metabolism, cardiovascular health, and regenerative medicine, the text illustrates their unique potential to restore balance and promote longevity. Importantly, the work underscores clinical responsibility, offering guidance on therapeutic monitoring, patient selection, and the avoidance of misuse.
Beyond its scientific rigor, “Peptides for Health” aims to empower practitioners and patients alike by presenting complex concepts in a clear, practical manner. Through its standardized design, visual aids, and concise clinical summaries, the book serves as both a reference and a teaching tool, helping to integrate peptides into modern strategies for health optimization, disease prevention, and recovery from injury or chronic illness.
According to Dr. Gordon, over the last two decades he has worked with patients suffering from chronic illness, trauma, neuroinflammation, and metabolic dysfunction, and one thing has become clear: Peptides are powerful tools—but only when used with understanding. “That’s why I compiled decades of clinical experience and current research into ‘Peptides for Health’. This book is designed to educate, not sell a protocol.”
Concludes Dr. Gordon, “If you believe medicine should treat causes, not symptoms, this resource belongs on your shelf. If you’re a physician, provider, researcher, or an informed patient who wants real science—not hype, this book was written for you.”
“Peptides for Health” is available as an e-book from Millennium Health Store.
